The town the beach

The
country therefore is much young, but however it has got an
architecture of particular relief, besides the Sanctuary and
the chapel of Santa Crescenzia and of the guard towers. If
we go around for the tidy and linde roads, all straight and
parallels, is possible to discover angles of great fascination.
|
We
begin our tour from the road named "Venza", a little
road that opens to the south of the public square "Sanctuary",
near the road named "Savoia", the main road that
from Trapani or Palermo bring to the sea: murales, climber
plants, ancient drinking troughs made in stone, parck benches
made in wrought iron, a little shop of antique dealing, the
all condensed in a little road where cars can't enter, and
where in summer cultural concerts of classic music and conventions
are organized. From the road named "Venza" is possible
go to the Museum of the Sea, where there are many important
discovears, recovers in the depth of the San Vito sea.

Resful
and amusing walks can be made in the parallels roads of the
main one, don't much frequented, that they have various characteristics
and typologies. The roads to the east of the road named "Savoia"
have many pavements with a lot of bloomed flower-beds: there
are red and yellow roses, little trees of medium stem, and
other flowers with marvelous colors. The flowers and the trees
are so blooming, that it seems that every inhabitant of the
zone takes care of it.To the west of the main road, instead,
the are the roads where, time ago, lived the agriculturists:
the architecture is marked by wide main doors that permit
to pass the carts, and by simple but dignified habitations,
symbol of a sure economic well-being of the social class that
lived here. Some old "Bagli" have been restored
to become apartments. |
The sea-front allow to have a walk to few meters from the beach,
and therefore also the road that bring to the highest lighthouse,
after to have trepassing the two moles of the port. A panoramic
road of recent construction crosses the plateau, offering a beautiful
view on the town and its gulf.
|
 |
You
can come in San Vito also for its food, where the main dish
is the Couscous, followed by pasta with sea-urchin (than is
abundant here), and by the fresh fish. Besides to the valuable
fish, in the restaurants of San Vito it is possible to taste
also the "blue" fish (lampughe - calls caponi -
tonnetti) very abundant in the San Vito's sea and for this
very cheap. This is a very good fish, than can be cooked in
thousand ways, and that permit to have a cheap cost for a
lunch made up of a very fresh product. |
If you love the walks by horse or the trekking, you have only to
choose: there are in fact various manéges with expert people
that assure you relaxant go for rides in the campaign, invaded from
the sun and from daisies, while the slopes of the reliefs and the
paths, that carry you on Monte Monaco, are good occasions to have
excursions on foot. The ascension of Monte Monaco (532 meters) is
a most interesting experience because you have the possibility to
meet many exemplary of endemic flora, and finally to enjoy the beautiful
view on Cofano gulfs, San Vito and Castellammare, until noticing
- in the more limpid days - the island of Ustica.
|
But people comes in San Vito
over of all for its sea and its beach, about three kilometers
of golden sand, beautiful as the paradises of the south seas.
Arriving in San Vito you can see the sea before to reach the
first houses. An other kilometer, and you arrive at the sea
with beautiful colours.

An other kilometer, and you arrive at the sea with beautiful colours.
"To turn the corner and to see what you don't aspects. To walk
for a difficult road, then to take an unexpected descent... You
are without breath... You see yourself surrounded by a landscape
that you don't know to define... Then, without that you realize
it, it penetrates with more force... And while you look around yourself,
astonished, you arrive in San Vito Lo Capo ", In this way,
the television journalist Puccio Corona, tells his arrival in the
country, that describing the sea, reached by a beautiful beach,
screams miracle: "Why there aren't refineries, why the coast
is still so wild, so intact?".
|
|
To advise a particular tract of beach to the bathers
is impossible, one is worth the other, and all are charming. The
marine depth sweetly degrades towards the wide, and there aren't
currents in this zone, than therefore is particularly indicated
also for who can't swimm, and for smallest. Who prefers the cliff
to the sand, has only to choose: in east as in west the chance to
have a wonderful bath and to enjoy at the same time of a splendid
landscape are various.
|
|
The two coasts are completely different. To east
we find the high cliffs that fall to peak on the sea, but always
accessible also for who doesn't have a boat: the gulf of the Secco,
the beautiful "Firriato", where until about thirty years
ago lived the "Foca Monaca", a kind of seal (there's a
cove called "of the Marine Ox" just because inhabited
by a family of these aquatic mammals). The faraglioni and the "Venere
lake" on the opposite tip to the tonnara, the gulf of Cala
' Mpisu, and then the unrepeatable coast of the natural reserve
of the Zingaro.
|
In the west side the coast is lower and the cliff
are pointed, but nothing fear, with precaution you'll arrive calmly
to sea, to not omit are the small bays of "Cala Rossa"
and of "Cala Mancina", and then there's the wonderful
"Isulidda", a cliff separated from the dry land by few
meters of sea, the creek and the sandy beach of Macari, the little
coves of Cofano with cobbles.
