The
port of San Vito Lo Capo is one of the surest one in all Sicily.
Its position, inside of a closed gulf, in the west side from
the top of the lighthouse and in the east side from the Solanto
top, with two extended rocks banks, is a guarantee, and it well
knew the Romans, the Punics, the Arabs, the Normans and the
Spanishes, that here dropped anchors to escape from the storms.
The construction of two jetties, one in the west side and the
other in the east side, both supplied of quaies, has made the
rest. |

From fifteen years,
when the main wharf has been lengthened until approximately
400 meters, the bad weather can't worry who have a boat in the
port of San Vito Lo Capo. For who has a boat, the guard, the
light and the water, in the wharf, are assured; two diving centers
(one has its oun wharf for the berthing), a sail school and
a surf school, offers to tourists immersions in the beautiful
sounding depth, rich of fish, and funny costal navigations.
In the quaies of the two wharfs are moors many fisching boats
of Saint Vito, but there is also the place for the sailing boats
and motorboats, that are kindly received from the local sailors,
always disposed to supply councils and help to the owners of
the boats: the hospitality of the fishermen of San Vito Lo Capo
is one of the many gifts that this earth offers to the tourists.

The "Grecale"
and the "Libeccio" doesn't are the cause of difficulty:
the "Sirocco" is annoying only for the boats moored
in the first part of of the wharf in the west side; the "Greek
and Levant" and still more the "Sirocco and Levant"
can create some problem in winter if there is a very strong
wind, but this is very rare and however is enough reinforce
the moorings and to put some more fender, to sleep peacefully.
For who want to arrive in San Vito from the sea, the coordinates
of the port are: latitude 38° 11' north, longitude 12°
44' east. |
